What BC law allows

In British Columbia, gambling is lawful only if run by the provincial government. A Crown corporation, BCLC, operates all commercial gambling province-wide, online gambling too. B.C. has one lawful site for gambling online, PlayNow.com, and BCLC runs it. Players must be 19, at casinos and online alike.

The IGCO (Independent Gambling Control Office) regulates gambling for the province. It has held that role since April 13, 2026.

In plain terms, a BC resident aged 19 or over has one legal place to gamble online: PlayNow.com. The IGCO repeated the point on August 28, 2026. Put in its terms, PlayNow.com is the sole regulated commercial online gambling site allowed to operate in BC. Any other online gambling site that accepts BC players, the regulator added, is operating illegally in BC.
