About this guide

Privacy at Kitchen's Open

Kitchen's Open requires nothing from readers. Its visit counter leaves no cookie behind, yet a separate firm tallying the hits receives your device's address, browser type and the page you opened. The hour-and-night tool on the home page reads the time on the reader's own device and sends nothing anywhere.

What stays behind

Your colour theme choice and, in some cases, your tool settings may be kept in your browser's own storage on your device. A reader who switches the page theme sets a preference that stays in the open browser tab only. It is not sent to the Last Orders Desk or to anyone else.

There are no forms, accounts or email addresses to fill in here, and the counter that notes each visit leaves no cookies, though the statistics service also sees where you came from. Nobody is asked for a name. The site never asks where you are, but the visit counter works without cookies, and the statistics service still sees your IP address and browser. Picking an hour and a night in the home page tool needs no location at all.

Leaving the site

This site is never paid by casinos, restaurants, BCLC, PlayNow, TransLink or help services. Links to casinos and help services are never paid for.

No page but the home page holds paid links; they carry the label Ad, and every one of them ends at one private online casino. That partner pays the site a commission, and another one could replace it. Its own privacy rules apply once a reader arrives there. The province neither manages nor licenses it, and it is not PlayNow. BC residents who play on it give up every protection the province provides.

Questions at the counter

Does the clock tool know where a reader is?

No, the site does not ask for or read the reader's location. The tool works from the time on the reader's own device and sends nothing anywhere.

What happens to the theme choice?

It stays in the open browser tab only. Nothing about it is sent to the site or anywhere else, and there is no account to save it to.
